a dreamer’s giveaway

— June 20, 2017

Hello and happy summer! Today is a happy day because I am celebrating you, summer, dreams and making moments by giving away a $100 Amazon gift card to give you a gift to make moments and build on your dreams.

Woo hoo!

This past March, I celebrated my three year anniversary as a blogger.

Who would have thunk it?

At the time that I started blogging, my “dream” had been to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. The only thing I knew about that dream was that I wanted to work for myself, but I had no idea what that would be. I had been trying to figure it out for a longggggg time.

I know that you are dreamers too because we have chatted about where you are in your dream adventure and what your “someday” visions look like. You have shared with me what you have accomplished so far, which is amazing. It inspires me and I love to think about you and the dream road that you are building. Once in a while, just take a pause to look back on what you have added to your life in the form of your dreams. You will be as amazed, as I am. Most of the time, the steps we take are small because we have to fit them into our busy daily lives and they often take us years to complete, so we tend to think we haven’t done much. But, oh boy, can you believe what you have accomplished with everything else you have going on?

When I started figuring out how to create a blog site, it was January. I had a one and a half-ish year old, a four year old and a five and a half year old. The whole journey was new to me, even figuring out what a blog really was, because I did not have time to be hanging out on the computer keeping up with the times. I had three wee ones. After a bit of research, I jumped in and started with a free blogging template and the learning began.

My first blog was a place where I shared fresh and thoughtful gift ideas based on things I found in catalogs, magazines and other sources of unique ideas. After a year, I decided that I really wanted my own website because I had big dreams on how I wanted my site to look and the free templates are just too limiting for a dreamer’s mind. As I made the shift to my own website (which involved a month of crying, swearing, sweating, late nights and more unpleasantries), I discovered that how I was sharing information was infringing on copyright law, even though I shared the sources for all of my ideas and images. If you did not create it, you can’t share it without permission. Period. So, after having brought over all of my old content (one post at a time because technology plagued me) to this new website, I decided that the best course of action was to delete it all and move forward using only my own ideas or those ideas that I received permission to use.

My research and findings showed that most of us in the blogging world have no idea about how legality effects our work and our websites and a high percentage of us bloggers are not doing it right as far as legality is concerned. The only way that I knew I could do it right was to use only my own work, including recipes, photography and artwork. There are sites that allow you to use their content and there is a gray area to use other’s content if you name the source, but I still found it to be misguided and a lot of work.

So, with the intent to move forward using only my work, I began a slow process to build my blogging world anew. I have never regretted that decision and still follow it today, on this third website of mine.

Don’t ya just love it when I share?

I now know what I want to be when I grow up and have many many many many dreams that I am following, the mark of a professional dreamer. One of my current ones is creating my very own cookbook. It is still in the building phase, but here is a sneak peek…

and here is another page…

It needs to be just right, and there is much that I ponder as I create it, and I may be 80-years old when it is ready but it is so much fun!

For this giveaway, I spent some time pondering how to celebrate all of you dreamers. We all have different dreams and I wanted to honor that. So, this giveaway through Amazon (I am not affiliated with them and receive nothing from giving you their gift card but pure pleasure!) gives you a chance to purchase something to keep working toward your dreams, or to help you make more moments that matter. Giving a gift certificate as a gift is a bit boring when you love gifting, but sometimes, it is the best gift you can give.

All can enter, except for my hubby. His dreams already came true when he married me any how…

To enter, just leave a comment below. It can be any old boring comment like “There, I entered” or something interesting, like what dream you are working on…you decide. I have been too busy bossing kids around to be bossy with you and tell you what kind of comment you should leave. (The required giveaway rules follow below.)

This giveaway will end a week from today, on June 27th, 2017. I will pick the winner on Wednesday June 28th and shout it out in a post. (This will give me a chance to write about a road trip we just got back from, full of “gettin’ our kicks”…)
